Spring into an immersive virtual reality experience

Spring is here, and so is the first dedicated virtual reality theatre! A concept relatively new to this decade, virtual reality (VR) has taken off in the past few years. By 2016, over 200 companies had developed their own spin on VR products. Three years later, and the possibilities for VR are becoming endless!

The next phase of entertainment...

Founded by BAFTA winner Catherine Allen‘Limina Immersive’ aims to bring VR to the masses, after extensive research found significant demand for this art form in cultural venues. Limina screens “cultural, meaningful, artistic VR to audiences – unlocking its creative potential”

Prior to Limina’s inception in 2016, Catherine was responsible for leading the creation of two of the BBC’s first VR experiences and is a pioneer in the field. Talking about VR, the CEO said “It is an art form in its own right. The trouble for audiences is this new medium is very hard to see at home unless you have your own virtual reality headset and know what to look for.” Limina are bridging this gap in Bristol by curating their very own stunning VR experiences for people to enjoy together! This is set to be an innovative take on entertainment just like going to the cinema or a concert.

What you can expect...

Opening on 12th April, “LIMINA: The Virtual Reality Theatre” is coming to Bristol’s Harbourside for a unique, immersive viewing experience.

The company has previously run pop up VR events across the country and have developed an inclusive and accessible way of screening VR to audiences. Running for six nights a week, the Bristol location will be Limina’s base for regular screenings. You’ll get the opportunity to experience the mystery and thrills of Cirque du Soleil, and be taken to the depths of the sea and explore the endangered coral reefs of Indonesia… Without any travel required other than to the Harbourside!
